This homemade almond milk recipe is perfect to make at home. You can save money and make it without all the added sweeteners and preservatives making it much healthier and even tastier. Give it a try!
1 cup raw unpasteurized almonds
3 cups filtered water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon raw honey
Begin by soaking 1 cup of raw almonds for 12 hours in filtered water with a dash of sea salt. Drain and discard the soaking water. Use 1 cup of almonds to about 3 cups of filtered water. Use more water for a thinner milk.
Place soaked almonds in blender and pour in the 3 cups of filtered water. Blend. Then add 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 tablespoon raw honey, depending on your desired level of sweetness. It tastes great with no sweetener. Add more water if you like it thinner. Blend thoroughly until a bit frothy. Strain out almond residue through a fine sieve.
Variations: Use walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, or macadamia nuts. Add carob powder for “chocolate milk” and blend, or add spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and/or cardamom.
Makes four servings.
